Community Standards and Appeals

Last updated: October 10, 2026

These standards apply to Guild-run spaces and activities when they open. There is no member discussion space open yet. The founding-interest list is only for launch updates.

Real Artist Guild is being built for human creatives across disciplines. We want people to take part without harassment or pressure to disclose more personal information than the Guild needs.

How we want to treat one another

  • Welcome people across creative disciplines, experience levels, identities, backgrounds, and viewpoints.
  • Give feedback with care. Critique an idea or work without attacking the person who made it.
  • Respect consent, privacy, attribution, and copyright. Share another person’s work only when you have permission and the intended use is clear.
  • Be honest about your role in creative work, collaborations, process evidence, and statements made on behalf of the Guild.
  • Keep private application materials, contact details, accommodation requests, and member communications within the purpose for which they were shared.
  • Make room for people who use assistive technology, need another format, or participate at a different pace.

Conduct we do not accept

Do not harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against, intimidate, or direct unwanted sexual conduct at another person. Do not dox someone, impersonate them, share private information without consent, or encourage others to target them. Do not submit another person’s work as your own, fabricate evidence, knowingly misrepresent your role, or misuse the card as a promise of endorsement, quality, employment, licensing, or legal authorship.

Different creative tools and processes are not misconduct by themselves. Disagreement about art, tools, or Guild policy is not a violation unless it includes conduct described above.

Reporting a concern

Use the Accessibility and Contact page to report a concern. Share only what is needed to explain what happened. A person named in a report will not decide that report about them. We aim to acknowledge reports within five business days. This is not an emergency response service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.

Possible responses

Depending on the facts and severity, we may clarify expectations, remove content, issue a warning, limit participation temporarily, suspend access, or end membership. We will choose a proportionate response, consider the people affected, and keep a factual record. Immediate steps may be taken to reduce a serious safety risk while we review the matter.

When appropriate, we will share a reasoned outcome with the people directly involved. We will not publish reports or case details. A person affected by a decision may request one reconsideration within 30 days. A different person will review it when available. Our response target is 20 business days. We will explain if more time is needed.

Application appeals

Application review and community moderation are separate processes. An applicant may request one no-fee appeal of an application decision within 30 days. An uninvolved reviewer considers process error, relevant new information, or inconsistent use of published criteria. The response target is 20 business days.

Records and privacy

We keep only information needed to assess and respond to a report. Access is limited to people assigned to the review. We do not promise anonymity where the facts make that impossible. Records are handled under the Privacy Notice and internal retention procedures.
